Jessica Gethin

A graduate of the exclusive Symphony Australia Conductor Development Program, Jessica first took to the podium in 2002. Since then she has performed on stage throughout Europe, USA, UK, Canada, Asia and Australia, and has studied under internationally renowned conductors working with the Adelaide, Queensland, Victorian, West Australian and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. She has also directed and conducted successful concert seasons with West Australian orchestras including the Perth Pops Orchestra, Fremantle Chamber Orchestra, Metropolitan Symphony, Fremantle Symphony, WA Youth Orchestra and UWA Opera.

An accomplished violinist, Jessica holds her Bachelor of Music Performance degree and has a diverse background working in genres ranging from baroque, classical, jazz, opera, musical theatre, contemporary and film; recording for CD, documentaries, live radio broadcasts and television commercials.

Jessica has collaborated with a wide range of artists ranging from conducting international stage shows such as the Australian Rock Symphony Concert (Australian Tour 2010) and The Ten Tenors (Live in Australia 2009), to accompanying notable classical artists including Dutch violinist Rudolf Koelman (violinist) and Australian soprano Sara Macliver.

A dynamic music educator, Jessica is also in demand in the roles of adjudicator, examiner and concert presenter; working with organisations including WA Symphony Orchestra’s EChO Ensemble, WA Youth Orchestra, Musica Viva and the WA Academy of Performing Arts, where she currently lectures in conducting. 2011 sees Jessica commence her appointment as Musical Director and Chief Conductor of the Perth Symphony Orchestra.
